Acrylic fabrication consists of cutting, machining, bending or finishing acrylic sheets, edges and rods. In fact, acrylic is a fabrication friendly material. allowing many methods to achieve a finished, desirable, designed product.
Acrylic becomes pliable when heated allowing it to be shaped to almost any shape and contour. Atlanta Acrylic relies on tools and techniques such as scoring, sawing, routing, polishing, heating, gluing, glossing, bending, and just plain perseverance.
Acrylic can also be delivered in many colors, be screen printed, etched, vinyl filmed, screwed, bolted, and framed. Acrylic is one of the the clearest plastics in the world and is used in thousands of products. It was used for submarine periscopes and airplane turrets during WW2. That's because Acrylic is very scratch resistant compared to other clear plastics.
Acrylic stands up to a broad temperature range, and has superior weathering properties compared to other plastic materials. Do bear in mind that is it is flammable at very high temperatures (266F). But other than melting, your acrylic piece products will maintain an eye-catching appearance and stand up to wear and tear for many years.
